A Serious Conversation on how to get Reasonable People on the Board

Look; we know that Lal and Company are at best minions that can't lead a dollar cigar to his mouth much less lead a multi-billion dollar operation. They obviously have a Board of Directors that is hand picked and never asks serious questions of the 5(or 6) Cs except to verify Lal is calling Black Rock and Vanguard for operational orders.

SERIOUSLY! How can we get qualified candidates on the Board of Directors that are not in lock-step with this stupidity?

Why is it that when we common stockholders vote for a Board Member they would essentially tell us who to vote for or we could opt out of voting completely. Those were our choices. no write ins or a no vote. Just what ever clown Black Rock wanted or we threw away our vote. Of course I can't remember the last time we were able to proxy vote on any thing.... Maybe Black Rock/Vanguard/State Street changed the rules.....

No offense taken on the quality thought, but if this is not an "A" company why is Emerson paying for a B.O.D. and a CEO at "A" rates?

Emerson to my knowledge used to be a “B” company. It has never been in a fashionable business nor has it ever been expected to be anything else other than an industrial supplier. In the past two decades the quality of its products, management and employees have fallen to either a C or a D depending on who you ask (No offense to those of you who work there).

You cannot change the DNA by changing something like the board of directors. What did changing CEOs accomplish? Based on the posts here I would say not much. That’s why it doesn’t matter if they keep acquiring more techy companies. You cannot change the fundamental nature of the company. Emerson will never be an A company.

If that’s what you are expecting then I suggest you look for a job in an A company. “A” companies hire mostly “A” people and have “A” management that deliver “A” products.

Good luck!
