I think the last working date and last employment date is how they get around WARN notices
However they do it will surely benefit them and not their former employees.
Yes, I believe the whole point of them paying you out on your normal pay schedule is so that your unemployment benefits will not take effect immediately.
Kind of rather nasty.

I can only speak for Texas, but yes you won't get unemployment until your severance is all paid out. I know this from my spouse being laid off a couple of years ago. He did find a job though while he was still on severance and got paid both from his new job and the severance that was still left for a few weeks.

In reading the severance pay for non executive, salary employees. It says how many weeks you get, but also states will be paid per your usual pay schedule for the term of your severance. So they won't pay you out in full one lump sum. I have never seen it done this way!

I don't understand, what is last working date vs last employment date? Is that including PTO for last employment date?
Notified today. Last working date 8/31. Last employment date 10/21, but I think that was because 10/15 is my 5 year anniversary. Severance per policy which would be 14 weeks
