To any leader on PTO today while your direct reports and their colleagues are being laid off, fu-k you. You're a coward.

Leaders in my area scheduled last minute pto for today. They have also not once mentioned the layoffs in prior calls. They do have large periods of time blocked on calendars for tomorrow and day after.
Most of my team (leaders included) had PTO scheduled around now. It's not indicative of an uncaring attitude. I wouldn't begrudge my leaders for spending time with their children, or taking time to work through their own emotions, even if I'm let go tomorrow.
It's not their faults and as someone that has been a leader and had to let employees go, it's awful. It's not fun, it's not happy, it's terrible.
We're all humans that need to work to support ourselves, but we also need to take care of ourselves as much as we can to ensure our capacity to support ourselves.
I hope the best for all of you out there worrying and hope those that are affected find work quickly.
I am a leader and my PTO for today and tomorrow was scheduled long before the layoff was announced. I care about my employees more than most leaders can say and I pray my team and myself are not affected. My heart breaks for anyone affected by this.
Possibly the supervisor is getting laid off and using their PTO? Plus, it is also the end of summer for most families. I am sure even supervisors may have planned PTO before their kids go back to school.
Wow, I am truly appalled reading this comment. In times like this we should be supporting our fellow colleagues and contributing to a psychologically safe space. Regardless of how you feel about the company, everyone is experiencing the same thing. While I hear your frustration and your feelings are valid disparaging comments towards others won’t help your mental state. A suggestion is to think of something that brings you joy instead. Remember, we do not know others mental state, maybe a vacation or a day or two away is what someone needs to get through this.
Have fun in the food bank line.
