Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Beware: This site may promote negativity

I thought the first few incidents were a fluke, but the count is now up to 8, so I feel it worth bringing to your attention. I've posted positive and encouraging comments across a number of threads in recent weeks, and the comments keep "magically" dissapearing. The negative, "sc--w them" "this company su-ks" "I'm gonna quiet quit" type comments remain.

Call me crazy, but I'm getting the feeling this site has a bias towards promoting anger, fear, and frustration over positivity and optimism. Seems ridiculous, but I've triple checked their rules, user agreements, etc... and have never violated them. The wierdest part is it's not a 100% coorelation. A few positive comments I made remain. Some were even exact replicas of others that dissapeared. It's all very odd, but my observation is this site exposes users to more negativity than positivity, and not just due to the "layoff" nature of the site's content, but due to intentional actions/design.

Shameful if true. Stay vigilant out there!

more likely you got flagged for trolling or spamming and now all your posts are automatically going to trash.mods here dont give a damn if youre whining or cheerleading, they just dont like breaking site rules, its in the footer - no posts containing threats or vulgarities, spamming, trolling, advertising, bringing up politics, asking for votes...

OP here. I'm not young, naiive, and drinking the kool-aid. My missing comments were positive and encouraging comments to those impacted by layoffs. I felt bad. I never said the expression of often warranted feelings shouldn't occur. All I said was my positive comments dissapeared while foul language and negative comments remain. It was a patter observed enough times to warrant my calling attention to it. Test it out yourself.

Wild how quick you all are to jump to conclusions. Not sure what I expected. Seems to be par for the course on this site.

Nah I left a really negative comment and it "disappeared" too.

  • People are going to be angry and upset when they get laid off obviously. Why are people going to be positive when their means of feeding their family and paying their bills has been ripped away from them? Read the room.

Have you checked the "Older topics" link on the right, under the New & Active buttons just before the Topics start to see if your comments have been moved there?

Whoa looks like HR joined the chat. How tone deaf are you? Of course theres anger and negativity on this site people got laid off and put a lot of uncertainty in their lives. How else are they supposed to react? If they want to be angry, let them. At least they get a space to vent.
