Part of the LHC merger and got a mandatory all staff meeting invite for tomorrow. Required in office attendance for anyone in travel distance. Feels for sure we’re next

Can anyone say what the severance package was when they were let go because of the lhc uhc merger?
The home health was bought to shore up their snf at home projects and where most of the 260 billion that Medicare will be moving to outpatient services. That what they are after.
For those in the MidWest (MN, IA, WI) Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI is hiring - https://www.gundersenhealth.org/careers/find-a-career
Optum bought several home health companies so I’m guessing it’s not overseas staff in many cases (because a lot of the home health wouldn’t allow any clinical offshoring, right?) but simply redundancies. If Optum buys multiple groups competing in a market, they can consolidate.
That doesn’t make any sense. The employees made the company. Who are they going to replace you all with. Overseas personnel from the Philippines. Your a home health company. They have no staff at UHG who wants those jobs.
It doesn't seem to matter who you work for UHG, UHC, LHC, CHC, Optum, Rx, Financial, Insight, or one of the many others - they just don't care. No rhyme, no reason, dollars and cents. If you were part of an acquisition, you ARE at risk. They don't need you and can't keep everyone. It's about increasing shareholder value. It's all about the bottom line. Layoffs of employees reduce costs so that the revenues appear to rise to meet analyst expectations and delight the shareholders. The company will purport that healthcare costs are rising. Of course they are, they are driving costs up, they would know as they monopolize the industry and access all the information of the competitors. They are a driver. It looks like layoffs here are just normal course of business here. Buckle up for the ride.
The sad part for all hardworking, loyal employees who do a great job every day is that the leaders of each company that was acquired sold you out for money. They knew the plan, all that matters is that their pockets are full. That's all.
I work for a LHC home care company, our entire company was brought in today and told we are being let go, not through any fault of our own but "due to internal and external factors we cant control" last day will be next month. keeping it vague cause i know you're in here Optum.
I am also part of the LHC merger. Hopefully it was nothing bad… please keep us posted!
If you aren’t actively enrolling patients, acquiring diagnosis codes adding to the income, or not feeling like you will lose your mind due to your schedule in the field, you are assuredly at risk. They love early mornings to lay people off, just how they roll. I wish you well, I hope you get severance. Best of luck, mate. 🇬🇧
Interesting... If you are laid off tomorrow (sorry if that's the case), unusual for a Tuesday and unusual to be required come into the office (makes it easier for laptop/badge collection though). Let us know.
Please come back and let us know the outcome of your meeting. I am familiar with your group and curious how this is going to go.
Also, I was let go last Thursday, term date is 8/24. The outpouring of support from my colleagues who were spared has been overwhelming. Such good people.. the bad leaders are just so horrible. Hope they sleep well at night.....
LHC group, merger completed back in February/March. Haven’t completely been brought under the Optum umbrella yet
Lhc=large hadron collider?
LHC? Legacy Healthcare Partners?
