Not sure about the future of this company. The store looks bad. Furniture dept looks awful. There are not enough hours given to run the store. Our poor furniture manager is like 15 builds behind. There are no other associates in furniture. Just the manager. I feel the company is heading into a bad direction. Customers tell us all the time how having 2 workers in a store just makes it look like we are going out of business. Is anybody else's store having these issues?

Been working for them for 8 years now. Thought I would end my career as a merchandise manager with them. NOT. Actively seeking employment. It is just not the norm anymore. Way to stressed to go to work anymore.
Bruce doesn't care if we're short-staffed or stressed-out. He only cares about his unjustified high salary, bonuses, and stock options. He takes care of the greedy stockholders before he takes care of his managers and hourly associates. He raises prices unnecessarily {who's going to pay $2.99 for a 2-liter Coke?), takes discontinued furniture on and off of clearance, and has his buyers purchase gazebos oversees too late in the season {so now we will have to "pack them away" for 5 months). Very poor product flow procedures. ALSO, Friends & Family events should be pre-planned at the beginning of the fiscal year...not only 6 or 7 weeks in advance, forcing managers and associates to have to change their vacation plans. Bruce doesn't care about us lowly associates, only about his inflated salary and UNEARNED bonuses. Capitalist PIG!
At least your manager helps in furniture. Mine keeps calling me off the floor from stocking. Then he asks my why my crew (which is 2 pt retired employees) and have not finished stocking yet. Bless your manager for helping.
Our store is in the same situation. We have a new manager and he is a micromanager. I am currently doing two positions. I am actually becoming physically ill. Customers are discussed with our new manager. They are used to the old team. 2 employees are getting ready to give notice because of the working conditions. It's really sad we were a family. It just not like that anymore. I am unfortunately also looking elsewhere for work.
