Quick Touch base meeting

Ignore this . Especially if it’s a 30 min chat .

That’s when they tell you .

Part of 08/10/2023 Thursday massacre. I was let go after 7 years .
7 years ! I wasn’t the best I was kinda level 3 . Just had my interim review on Monday ! I met satisfaction ! And then THURSDAY BO-M!!! I’m laid off !!!

Yup, the wording was, i need you to call into an urgent meeting in 30 mins. 🫠 clinical depts ranging from social work, palliative care providers, pharmacists, PAs, nurses, no one was spared. Not even the directors.

They have to call those on PTO and notify them. Someone said there were 1200 layoffs at WellMed...that is false...there was less than half that. Someone said all the leaders kept their jobs. That is false...many grade level 29, 30, and 31 leaders received notifications. Someone said the stock price will drop...that is false, Wall Street loves a company doing a restructuring and lowering costs of operating...stock prices usually go up. It is a hard pill to swallow but Optum and WellMed have grown to inefficiency with too many layers. As someone correctly said it was inevitable. It stinks to be in this situation, but a company doesn't "owe" you permanent employment and you don't owe the company your labor permanently. It is at will and either can sever the relationship. Always have a backup plan. And unions? That won't make a difference...the issue driving this is the CMS changes to Medicare reimbursement coupled with the inefficient staffing, structure, and unnecessary layers. I don't like that I have to now start my job search again but we should have seen this coming.

A call to my work cell by the boss while I was on PTO, followed by a call to my personal cell phone… Never a good sign of things to come…

I got the news also yesterday. Boss read from a script of what to say. Got the axe.

A few years ago we were left in what I can only call a massacre of productivity, zero business knowledge in key areas left with all ad-hoc requests from systems no one knew during migration from systems. It was absolutely ridiculous. Lesson learned, don't be a hero, work your 40 hours. Collect the checks and let the decision makers figure out how to deal with the choices they made. You won't be compensated for your time if you try to go the extra mile. The purse strings are too tight and honestly, the raises here have always su-ked. Work on your, what is the priority, get it in writing skills.

Nine years here, nights, weekends, even holidays I was so dedicated and stupid!!! Never again. I squeezed a thank you out of them but had to push. Good riddance, worst experience of my life in this org.

If you ignore the invite they will text your personal devices. I was on PTO, received text that I was urgently needed for a quick meeting.

It’s unfortunate becuase it seems in many situations they didn’t even plan to cross train or anything. They’re just going to make whoever is left try to pick up the pieces which is the WORST way to run a business. Awful.

With the folks we have lost no one seemed to know what they did never mind the priority it was needed. This has shot holes in our processes and procedures as well as gaps in how to get the customers what they need quickly. So much stuff is falling on the floor or not even making it inside. Embarrassing.

I could fix a lot of things and feel like a hero. Just like MJ, who just got her reward. The door.

We are failing even reducing the staff. You don't amputate an arm one bone at a time. That introduces disease and is cruel.

I received my meeting invite on my morning commute and knew exactly what was coming. When the VP (who couldn't find his a-s with both hands) told me I was being let go, he wouldn't tell me the criteria for being selected. He didn't even seem to know what my role had been as he thanked me for all my "outstanding work" in what was only a tiny piece of what I actually did. Almost a decade with the company and this was my reward.

‘Quick connect’ is exactly the term they used for my meeting! Several years with this company and it’s bye bye so sorry - kept on the younger cheaper ones
