I'm waiting because jumping off of a roller coaster tends to have a negative effect of the one who jumped off. You might as well ride it out till the end, because it tends to be less painful that way.

IF you truly anticipate a mass layoff is unavoidable then punching out early in order to have the best shot at other employment before the mass layoff floods the market with hungry candidates is not a terrible idea.
There is going to be more of that everywhere in the company people are looking for new jobs. It might be a lower paying job or anything to get out of this company.
