VMware acquisition playbook

VMW employee here, trying to fish for some details on how the layoff or retention notification experience was to those that were around during time of acquisition.

Some are saying that you got notified before the closing date. Is this true? If so, how soon did you get the notice? At the time of notice were all regulatory approvals in place?

From the time of notification until the closing date what was the experience like?

Try to keep licking your bosses bottom as much as possible these days. ( Sorry to be a bit harsh, but this is the reality). There will be a excel sheet that will be sent out to the managers to fill in and it all depends on what they fill in for you to move ahead with B'com or not. There is nothing to be ashamed as everyone of us who are currently in B'com have done that

It was received via email on the day the acquisition closed. Stay, Transition or Eliminated. Some people were aware they were staying as their managers (who were also staying) spoke with them and other mgrs weren’t open and didn’t share. The month leading to the close was very tough process to go through. Too many people waited until the end not believing all the rumours of deep and radical cuts.
