Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Work reduction job post

Just saw a job post for CVS health for Colleague Relations position. It’s for Hr to coordinate job reductions, analyze risk and work with the severance packages. The irony. They have to hire new employees to let older employees go. What a joke!!

The whole beginning section is related to hiring people:
Understanding the strategic objectives of the business i.e. Business case

• Identifying the talent pool(s) and coordinating with other leaders in the organization impacted by decisions through a level of consulting with all level leaders (front line to executives). Including working with leaders to identify new positions, moving the right colleagues in to new roles and identifying the talent for the end state organization

• Influencing key talent decisions based on the requisite skills and requirements of the role(s) going forward

Regardless of mass layoffs, part of an HR person’s responsibility includes both the hiring and firing of an individual/s. Again, not advocating for anyone here, I just think there is a lot of finger pointing and fear mongering where there doesn’t need to be.

@ @1ter+1o2rG4NX

This part, actually:

• Leading non-complex single department or business segment actions to complex large-scale cross enterprise project efforts requiring coordination amongst several leaders resulting in actions above 100 individuals

What kind of "action" do you think they're intimating?

Ok, so which responsibilities listed in the job description are not explicitly for planning and executing a mass layoff?

Why would the job description contain the layoff responsibilities if that's not what the person hired will be doing? Many potential candidates won't be willing to do that kind of work, so why scare off candidates for no purpose?

You… you people do realize that there is a slew of other job activities attached to that job description, not just layoffs.

Not that I’m advocating for anyone here but it sounds like a normal, standard issue, Toby from HR kind of job to me.

Funny. I just saw that job yesterday as well and thought “well, isn’t that nice”. /b/ eye roll /b/

They’re probably firing 5k so they can hire a bunch of those positions for further upcoming layoffs.

Yeah, those would be the ones planning the current layoff. Even if one or more had to be replaced, why? The job description is clearly for a large-scale RIF.

If you search google or linked in, this is job that already exists. There are a few people that came up with that job title for CVS that have been doing it for a little while.

Glassdoor shows several positions in several states. I couldn't find it on the CVS site.

They are going to hire the two Bobs from Office Space.

OK, a bit alarming. However, considering the multiple acquisitions this year -- this could be related to the newly acquired businesses. Some consolidation of roles seems inevitable.

It shows as posted 1 day ago on LinkedIn, and has 98 applicants so far. Sounds like a fun role. 60k entry level pay range, 3 years min experience.

did that job posting just post today? if so, that seems to indicate we're in for a few more big layoffs after this round. hiring at Cvs is painfully slow. no way this position is in any way related to this round of layoffs
