Thread regarding Avid Technology Inc. layoffs

Why STG

Can't stop wondering, of all possible buyers, why STG? Price is underwhelming, buyer has no track record in the media industry, is not a bigger player in tech, and most of their previous investments have been sold. Trying to see the upsides, but frankly this looks more like a random private equity buying a desperate company undergoing very strong pressure from shareholders (Impactive mainly, most possibly), which makes me think the likelyhood of STG selling Avid (or its parts) given more time is very high. Question is what will happen in between, how many people will leave or be let go, and how the work culture will change over the next years.

Unless their intention is to really support the growth of the company (which is the narrative we will most likely be hearing), but everything indicates otherwise.

Only time will tell. I give it 5 years before someone bigger buys Avid or it goes public again.

whats majorly different this time is how hush-hush it all is. They are keeping this very secret from the public. gross.

Give it due time. Enjoy your last couple of months of perceived glory and status. Soon it’s bye bye Beverly.

Not that you have to be Nostradamus, but man has this post aged well.

Wishing my colleagues all the best. Some key roles will survive in their current roles shortly beyond the initial buyout transfer; and a very few more will continue to land at the new parent companies who acquire the respective crumbs that are sold off. It was fun while it lasted but the writing has been on the wall. On the positive, wonder if JR’s personal, self-promotion PR machine will at least finally fall away!

Time to pack our bags …… best to go rather than being let go…..

When something doesn't make sense... Selling off was also my immediate thought.
