Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Can't stop stressing

There are a few things I hate more than knowing about layoffs and then having to wait for them to happen. All the guessing, speculation, anticipation... All of that is ten times worse than simply getting an email or being told in a meeting out of the blue that you are laid off. At least for me.

As someone who was let go early this year, I can't imagine being there now. Wondering if every day is my last. The job market has slowed down significantly!

There were so few cars in the parking complex. I suppose asking us to compute to a job that may be on the chopping block is an overreach

In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry, you make it double
Don't worry, be happy...

Go for walks/excercise, delve into hobbies, work on updating your resume, share concerns with peers and talk it out, you are not alone, get your LinkedIn updated and start checking job sites.
Working on being prepared for it if it happens to you, that helps reduces stress. I just plan on it happening and if not it’s gravy. There is no avoiding such things in a career. Normal to expect it and do NOT take it personally or let it get you down.

OP, so you'd rather have less time to search for a job than more? Pretty poor thought process on your part.

You still have a job to do since you’re collecting a paycheck. If you are any good, you can find another job.

Don't stress out much and put further burden on yourself and the family. It is a hard time but you need to gain the the strength and move on. If your financial resources are looking good, better to take a small break too. It is important to not to get too emotional about the inevitable (be it anything in the life). If pandemic had taught anything to us, this is the one.

It is very stressful indeed. Just try not to care about it too much and plan either ways. Take each day as it comes.
