What is the count from yesterday?

How many were let go yesterday or this week for this round?

I had heard a 10%-15% Opex reduction globally managed by WFT & voluntary attrition. Some folks in EMEA would take as much as 4 quarters to leave because of worker laws

We possibly will never know the true number. The argument "WeLL tHeY dIdNt dO mOrE tHaN 500 cAuSe tHe WARN Act" isn't necessarily true.

While it is true if a company is laying off more than 500 workers does have to file it with the SEC, the WARN Act was written in 1988 and doesn't provide clear guidance for remote workers. It's been argued in various courts successfully that remote workers should be covered under it but nothing yet requiring businesses to disclose.

Additionally, a business can cite "unforeseeable business circumstances" as a reason not to report it. That is a risky route to take but the delay in the Broadcom-VMware acquisition, the recent economic downturn, and long term business impact from the pandemic could fit that description.

I have no idea, but it was sizable. Dell released most of the "A" players in Feb and the rest in this batch. Market share will continue to plummet as the level of customer service and support hits record low. Most of the people still at Dell don't want to be there and will be searching for a new landing as soon as the market opens up.

If a large company lays off people in smaller groups under a threshold the laws that apply are different and may favor the company.

Why are folks still hung up on this making the news? I guess because of the Feb layoffs being there.. these layoffs are staggered.. it's org by org. Do not expect a special CNN announcement. For any nay sayers.. time will squash the doubt. We are restructuring the way we operate - as process and IT changes are released and adopted we will have the ability to let more resources go. Simple.
