Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

time to unionize technical support ISG!!!!!!!!

i never thought i would think or say this, ive always hated unions and thought they were not needed and an abuse of us workers. but after the last year and the way the support teams are being treated, i don't think there is any other option for us except to get together so we can bargain as one force instead of us being picked off one by one. we had a WFR and now are asked to cover the work of those people.. but no one has been compensated for that additional work load. we have women making less than men for the exact same job. the company is telling us where we can and cant move. only way to get promoted is to go from team to team. we keep having policy changes and new work required of us with no say in the matter or opportunity to give feed back that is actually listed to. we now have to return to the office even though we have been doing more work than ever working from home.. Michel dell even said a few months ago that "other companies where doing it wrong" the senior leaders get raises and bonuses while we are left just barely getting by and in fear of our jobs. its simply not right and we are being taken advantage of ... we need to unionize. any one know a good way to start going about it? ive read a few things but not sure how to proceed.

The teamsters union just got full time UPS drivers a new deal that will take their pay up to 170k per year. Google it. It happened over the last few days. That's an extremely hard job and they are getting their fare share, as it should be.

Hate unions all you want, but it's pretty simple....the union forces the company to deliver value and fair treatment to employees. Without it, a publicly traded company is only focused on delivering value to shareholders at the expense of employees.

From Dell mgmt training, all you have to do is get your manager to accept a union card so embrace the RTO and hand them a union card

I know for a fact Dell will pull out all the stops to prevent a union.

Here is a start. We'll need to reach out to local CWA organizers.

Or create a new union like Amazon did (DTU). But that can get messy when Dell is purchased by another company.

I'm pretty sure you posted the same thing in Feb/March. Please if you are so unhappy go and find a place you will believe gives you what you need. The world is changing and you need to adapt or move on.

LOL The exact same things were been talked about in RR2/RR7 enterprise support after the 2001 WFR. Nothing has happened in the last 22 years and nothing is going to happen now . Support is just a sh---y job. A super needed job, but that doesn't make it less sh---y.

Very few escape from support. Anyone you deal with outside of support thinks everyone in support is a mouth breather that smells bad. The reality is you have to be a rock star and get recruited by another group or if you aren't a rock star, leave and come back if you want to get into any sort of professional position.
