Except for those being kicked to the curb after record earnings, yeah except for those guys. Its ok though because “its best for the company” and so long as they are told “we are going in a different direction so you have to go”, hearing that from HR makes it all ok.
I’m sure at first those being laid off were quite upset and angry but after hearing those words, well it just smoothed things over. So all is forgiven.
Never mind the H1B, MSFT (and others, like DELL) have been moving to the Contract Worker for ages now. What's that? That's when you get to hire someone with no HR support, no benefits, no commitment, dangle a carrot so they work long hours in hopes of FTE role, only to tell them over and over "we are working on it", and never hire them, only to end the contract with short notice, whenever you want. All the while practicing EQUITY and INCLUSION.
All of the older people 50+ have to go, not to worry though, Satya is safe and sound. So that’s a good thing.

Its a plan that we’ve seen before.
US ingenuity to create something substantial like Azure…check.
Make sure it has a solid foothold and large market share…..check.
Run off the US talent and bring in the HB1’s to take their place….in progress now.
Maybe his focus should be on making the cloud more secure, you know Chinese hackers worming their way in to hack the US government and all. Sort of a black eye for MS since we fought so hard to win the US gov bidding wars for cloud services.
He has a vision, it just doesn’t include you. It includes just enough United States workers to satisfy congress.
He is emptying the lot to park H1bs who will be here in couple of months.
