Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Story on layoffs

Hi there,

My name's Yowei Shaw and I'm a journalist working on a story for the podcast This American Life (www.thisamericanlife.org) about layoffs, after getting laid off myself from NPR (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/25/us/npr-layoffs-podcasts.html).

It was an awful experience and I'm so sorry Citrix might be facing layoffs as well.

Which is why I'm reaching out. I'm looking to talk to workers who know or suspect layoffs are coming, but are still waiting to find out who's on the list. I'm hoping this story can shed light on what it's like to go through this and some of the larger questions and issues that surround layoffs.

If you're open to talking, please get in touch this week or next at shaw.yr@gmail.com. I can tell you more about what I'm working on, and if it helps, we can speak on background or off the record. Feel free to pass this along to anyone who's in the same situation and if you have any leads, I'm all ears.

Thanks for considering. Sending my very best to you and your colleagues.

Oh and here's my website (www.yoweishaw.com) if you want to find out more about me and my previous work.

Take care,
Yowei

"Yes, we should all be relying on the honest and trusted news sources at Fox."

Clearly, some still think The Young Turks count as "media."

"Sorry to say it, but in terms of "truth in reporting," talking to anyone associated with NPR ("state-sponsored media" per Elon the Bridge Troll) is essentially a game of Russian roulette."

Yowei, apparently you've not been following the news about Citrix. This place has been on a downward spiral for a very long time. Most of the people left on the payroll are longtime employees just waiting for their severance (which for some will be a relief).

Hi Yowei -- Unfortunately, you're a little late to the party. The only layoff stress around here is who's going to be cut in time to get a proper severance. Anyone laid off after Sept will be lucky to get paid thru the month.

I invite you to look through the previous posts on this board, from October 2022 onward. You'll have a better idea of what people here have already gone through.

Sorry to say it, but in terms of "truth in reporting," talking to anyone associated with NPR ("state-sponsored media" per Elon the Bridge Troll) is essentially a game of Russian roulette. Combine that with your perhaps-deliberately vague angle & you'll have a better chance at scoring a vial of Liquid Luck than getting someone from here to talk seriously.

Willing to be wrong; but probably right.

Dude we’re praying we get laid off. Working here is an awful experience in itself.
