My name's Yowei Shaw and I'm a journalist working on a story for the podcast This American Life (www.thisamericanlife.org) about layoffs, after getting laid off myself from NPR (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/25/us/npr-layoffs-podcasts.html).
It was an awful experience and I'm so sorry Microsoft is facing layoffs right now.
Which is why I'm reaching out. I'm looking to talk to workers knew layoffs were coming, but had to wait to find out if they were on the list. I'm hoping this story can shed light on what it's like to go through this and some of the larger questions and issues that surround layoffs.
