Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Kurt

So, Kurt visited the Krakow office last month. My first impression was that he was extremely arrogant to the point where he criticized Sean, Dave Moore and others for sinking Sabre - there might be some truth to that but he hasn't achieved anything either. When one guy asked a fair question about ever changing strategy, he go upset and ended his answer with the good old 'we don't need complainers, just enablers'. Not to mention his language - we will 'kick their a*', 'kick the sit out of them'(re Amadeus) and a sporadic f-bo-b.

I dunno, is he trying to become some 20yo tech start-up founder or what?

@ejuj+1nyCaxrA TEO has old processes due to JD? More like no processes and in many cases no people either. We have loosely defined targets and the freedom to each wander our own unique paths in that approximate direction. We got some processes under Kerr but threw most of those out when she was forced out.

"where he criticized Sean, Dave.... and others for sinking Sabre"

If he understands Sean Putin, Dave shark and some others are parasites plundering Sabre for years, he has got it right.

Thats a good thing.

"he hasn't achieved anything either."
parasites have plagued company for years, he is not a wizard, we should give the guy atleast an year to improve things.

The leader (JD) that is sinking Sabre is still at the helm. The TEO folks and their old processes keep the organization from moving forward.

PTO not being paid out has been a pre-Covid policy. Accept the policy or move on!!

Bill wasn't so bad really. He just had a bad hand dealt by AA initially, then made a bad desperate play for some needed cash by selling the mainframe hardware and associated software to EDS without a realistic plan to eliminate the dependence on it, then 9/11 happened. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse. Maybe it would have been better to have only sold the mainframe hardware, the data centers, and the operators, but none of the software nor developers.

Kurt is the absolute worst CEO Sabre has had since William Hannigan. Hands down. The man has no class, and no vision for the future of Sabre. Case in point - he clearly said during one of the town halls before the layoff that Sabre would lean on and depend on those long-tenured employees to return the company to profitability. And then, 1000+ folks get laid off, most of those U.S.-based long-tenured employees. And now, we see a number of open positions in Sabre, a vast majority of those in India and Montevideo, for the same jobs that were deemed no longer needed.

Us long-tenured US-based employees have given our lives to this company. We should have been given more respect than to have been shown the door. We should have been given the opportunity to leave on our own terms.

And don't even get me started on the 'new' policy of NOT paying out unused PTO as part of the severance package. Total bullsh!t....

I almost fainted when I read he was not in his late 60s, his entire style is so incredibly 1980s. I made the decision to never hear his voice again and I will not attend another call where he speaks as long as I am still at this mess of a company.

I do not understand what part is not clear from Kurt’s own words. We need to move away from being USA centric to low cost locations. While the C level positions still, have to stay in USA. Goal is to have all workers in the cheapest location Kurt can find while sitting in USA.

I worked under him at CWT. It was the same story. Wiped out most of US teams who were incredible performers with happy clients for years. Sound familiar? When I learned he was showing up at Sabre, I was so worried for you and my wonderful Sabre "family" of 20 years. Glad I jumped ship when I did. As many have said, keep doing your best but "there IS life after Sabre." Wishing you all the best of luck going forward, within Sabre and now let go.

It would sure be nice to have a time machine to redo the past 3 years. Imagine what could have been done different with the benefit of hindsight. It's easy to point out mistakes after the fact but nobody could see the future at the time. If the furlough had been extended to a year or two then the cost of layoff severance payments could have been eliminated because most of us would have just quit eventually. If mainframe offload and gcp had been put on hold for a couple of years then less staff would have been sufficient to keep the lights on. If raises and profit sharing were put on hold too then we would probably be cash flow positive by now.

Did he really put down Sean, Dave, and other previous leaders? That's not cool at all.

Are you jealous of their 7 year old kid beach wear outfit? Come on, admit it :) All jokes aside, some people still believe them and think they are great leaders..

KE shaping up to be a loser, who will take care of himself and he swirls down the drain with what is left of a good company. Blaming others and browbeating with so called tough language is Not the Sign of a Leader at All.. I’ve put my heart into my positions here but being made to feel like a fool for staying. Good luck to us survivors till the next layoff or sell off.
