Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

A Possible disaster?

Possible kicks off next month. Is JW taking a “put it on and people will show up” approach that doesn’t require marketing? The site still doesn’t have a detailed agenda or even speakers. Does anyone truly think people want to register to attend a TD Cares event, meet with their account manager, or meet with TD execs? Is this really the best we can come up with? No wonder no one is signing up.

Anyone else remember Partners and Universe? We had brand name speakers for keynotes and sessions where people could actually learn something. And events were promoted with detailed value props and agendas. Granted, most attendees got in for free, but at least they wanted to be there.

Possible might be TD’s worst marketing campaign since telling companies not to buy analytics.

Will be lucky to hit half of the targeted goal of external attendees

Is anyone going to point out that we booked Katie Linendoll to speak. The same person we booked in 2019. She was irrelevant then and certainly is now as well. Great booking events team, way to recycle bad ideas.

Did you see JW’s LI AI video? Did she use Kamala Harris’s speech writer?

I really don’t care how many low-level customers attend these events if it doesn’t translate into revenue. Why doesn’t the diversity hire have revenue goals? She would then be gone in one year.

sigh...Partners and Universe...those were the good old days. We had absolutely NO problem getting people to attend, even our virtual event was a great marketing campaign, and very popular, though we made no money on it. You'd even see freaks who LOVED Teradata branded products...backpacks, jackets etc. Now we're just a joke.

Sad to see the demise of Partners. Went to my first one in San Diego in 2011 as a partner. Became an employee and saw the effort the Steering Committee put into running these events: proper reviews of abstracts, great mix of customer and TD content, great keynote speakers and lots of attendees. Not there now, but hard to blame the current folks for poor event planning given the pitiful company and product decisions made in recent years. It helps if you have the customers to attend these things.

“Our ELT loves to travel.”

Wouldn’t you if you had an unlimited expense account and private jet?

But of course that’s not meant for you, peasant.

Saw the latest rego numbers today. We achieved the milestone of our 1st customer registration for Possible Singapore. Yes we gave the ticket away, but that's amazing work by the team to have a customer attending. If we can get another customer to attend making it 2 in total, we'll be able to call it a success, high five each other on stage and even JW's hairdresser will be happy.

Unfortunately, the Teradata executives listed as speakers outnumber the external speakers listed on the website today.

The Teradata Executives also outnumber the attendees too. Our ELT loves to travel.

Unfortunate that the Teradata executives listed as speakers outnumber the external speakers listed in the website today

90% of marketing working on this is right there with you.

Held hostage by the lack of event programming decisions around speakers and agenda, and lack of budget to support our typical numbers of free or discounted attendees.

Don’t forget her mo--nic directors who are more concerned about boot licking than revenue.

Is each event more proof that JW and her inept VPs are way out of their league? Yes. The answer is a definite yes.
