honestly i do not know what the op wants to achieve here - maybe it's a bit of venting, not sure - but overall, all companies are like this and as soon as you have three or more people involved there will be some politics played where persona a is trying to get to person b by playing person c, etc.
i've been here for 10+ years now and things change every year, we shift as markets shift nad it often su-ks a lot - at the same time, change will happen no matter what you just keep moving, i guess that's the thing to remember. there will be people who are not good, managers who do not know what they are doing, execs that are greedy, engineers that are not competent, folks that are pushy, etc. sometimes i think the only way to avoid this is to start my own company and micromanage things so nothing bad happens. maybe. i am not sure if that's doable but i do daydream about it.
