Thread regarding Optum layoffs

On Demand Internal Hiring Process

I was selected for an “On Demand” interview and in the email it says it’s 100% recorded with questions and answers. Like where are physical “human” beings to do actual “human” resources and tastings…. 100x my a-s. This is another further disconnect in the wrong direction even though UHG/Optum only talks the talk on Culture and positive employee experiences. What a joke this place has become in 2023.

I am a recruiter and refuse to send candidates on demand interviews, I always set up a real call. I also advise my hiring managers not to use them. TA is not that busy right now, most of us a struggling with not enough work and tea volume is 1/4 what it was last year so to send out an on demand interview is sheer laziness. I imagine TA will be part of upcoming layoffs but they never seem to get rid of the really bad recruiters.

I am curious about how this post, regarding a hiring process, is applicable to this board about layoffs?

These have been around for many years. The on-demand interview round typically weeds out a layer before the in-person interview rounds begin. As a hiring manager, I’ve been pushed by recruiters to use the on-demand option when we have a higher than expected volume of candidates who meet minimum criteria; face-to-face interviews (virtual or in person) follow for top candidates.

Decline it, and say you are open to human interview. Of they are too busy to interview you, they will be too busy to train you as well.
