Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Layoff during 1st week July

I've heard that lists are already prepared and that another round of layoffs are due to start next week, 1st week of July . Don't know the BUs involved but apparently it's across the company.

Tomorrow is the last day of the 1st week of July. No cut so far.

This company has a long and distinguished history of bold face lies in the face of reality when it comes to layoffs and other business functions. When the Burlington support center closed the entire staff knew it was coming (as did anyone with half a brain) but Sr. leaders were still toeing the line that nothing was 'planned' right up until the axe fell. Keep that in mind when you hear there are 'no current plans' to force a return to the office or that the Broomfield support center isn't closing.

I will NEVER forget how I used to like Kit. Until that one day where he asked for people to stop spreading 'rumors' about the acquisition and literally 17hrs later the official announcement.

Seriously? That was the last straw? It was literally impossible for him to say that it was happening. He would lose his job and his standing, and VMware would have been greatly impacted. There are many instances of non-transparency, but the whole Broadcom acquisition side is as transparent as it is legally allowed to be.

don't spread the rumors

Rumors started when Pat introduced annual layoffs 'back in the day' ... No need to spread them specifically. Executive teams and their lies are at fault for people's minds to go wild due to their 0 transparency.

As no one can tell me that a CTO was not aware of this weeks or months prior, he obviously lied.

So yes, there will always be rumors, worries and people moaning / whinging ....

Layoff lists have been created to ensure that a more diverse workforce remains. VMware is close to breaking the 2% barrier for native Americans.
