You cannot trust Google with anything critical, anything beyond their main business, which is ads. Recently they announced they are getting rid of Google Domains, a good product that people depend on for actual work. Don't be surprised if they get rid of, or scale back, GCP. It's not as reliable as AWS or Azure anyway.

The reason you can't trust them anything beyond ads is because their ad business is massively profitable and allows their employees to live comfortable lives. What incentive does a Google employee have to improve/work on anything beyond ads? They know Google would be perfectly fine if they got rid of every business beyond ads.

I put very little weight on the word "focus" here. SP doesn't "focus" on much of anything except pleasing the creeps over in davos.

They had acquired that North in Waterloo for the glasses, so those workers will be impacted.

I think photos is safe... its the main driver behind people paying for more space. Nobody needs 2TB of drive space for email.

Fitbit is most likely struggling though.

However, rather then fitbit and photos, etc ... I'd be more worried about all the money drain at X. they have been a huge moneypit for sometime with no real success stories of any weight.
