With most of talent gone. GF has become a place where needy like me come to do something to get paid and go. No enthusiasm, no innovation, no creativity, no challenge.. Just a place for some of us who could not leave or need a place to earn for livelihood. It has become dull, boring and place for anyone who is looking for temporary shelter.

We can't be promoting many people and doing layoffs at the same time. Of course, if you give promotions and don't give any dollars with it then it is just a new set of business cards with a new title at the same cr-ppy salary!!! Personally, I'd take the lower title and more money any day. After all, if we were wealthy we would not be working here.
Heard that We are in serious trouble if GF’s attrition does not come on low double digit soon. Tom has asked to stop remaining of us by raise or promo whatever needed. I am already planning to leave so it does not matter to me but clearly we all should get promo offer if we are needed in GF to save it from closing shop. There will still be another layoff in Q3,23 so people who are not getting promo offer should see this as sign of danger and push the effort to jump the ship.

SMIC has been shipping 14nm FinFeTs for a couple years and even piloted 7nm GPUs - imaging that!

GF at 4th place with less than 6 % share with no hopes of staying in top 5 as soon as Intel foundry kicks in, it is matter of time that it will be looking to file bankruptcy. China foundries staring to produce 14nm themselves will be last nail in GF’s coffin.
Agree with comments. I do not even bother for promo etc as it feels shameful to join the rank which is full of junks, failed people and boot and p…. lickers who never delivered and are known for their mediocre and racist behavior. Toxicity fueled by incompetent people all over the management has made GF a living he-l.
I am actively looking for job to get out of this toxic, incompetent management , deceptive leadership and place with no future.
Agree 100%, when you have Senior Leadership who is so brain dead and you have an HR/Compensation group who has no clue what is going on in the market it creates a very depressed environment. Couple this with the state of some of the facilities GF owns such as the shithole site in Vermont, overall, it is a very dark depressing place to work.
I wonder if this was plan all along. I mean technically our business model is just to make old mature tech. Not really invent anything new just make old outdated chips that some products still use
Maybe GF should treat good employees like good employees and not trash while the insubordinate ones get treated like gold. A lesson on how to boost moral.
