Got laid off this week. They’re calling it a “reduction in force.” No notice, after years of work with Dematic. Superior claimed it’s affecting the whole company. Coworker had heard rumors this would happen but hoped it wasn’t true.

Despite glowing financial reports from the C-suite over the previous two quarters, last month (May, 2024) Dematic laid off 20% of it's training department, some employees who had been there 10+ years; naturally, they kept the younger (read: cheaper) employees. No warning, no notice.
May 2024 - Dematic is terminating large percentages of their in house departments. Not sure what sales load they have, but the reduction in HR, Training, Engineering and administrative is going to make supporting and delivering a challenge for the next 18 months.
How did they do it? Removed your access to the system ?
Appreciate the notice. I was going to apply for an opening but will now look elsewhere for steady work.
