Just plain fear mongering. Yes, we’re going to see a lower need for cashiers and retail positions because technology gains are going to make those positions less necessary.

Just like when cars got popular, there was less need for blacksmiths to put shoes on horses. Or, as technology provided computers, people used less and less pencil and paper. With the advent of email, the postal service saw a reduction in postal mail.

As technology and progress moves forward, more changes will occur. This is not rocket science.
