It is disappointing that the company cut some very capable people, while those who were not nearly as skilled and engaged are still safe. What is the message to those who remain? Perhaps that Ford is interested in nothing but money.

This post is TRUE. I worked at Ford for 3 years! Its sucks!
It is for sure based on skill. In some cases that skill is how well you kiss a$$, not how well you do your job. Heaven forbid you have an idea that goes against a higher up that doesn’t know as much.
They are firing the wrong people. Some of the ones that need to go most urgently are the ones not listening to the expertise of the people they manage.
I know of some very talented people that got released. In order to get the severance package you are not welcome back to work at ford or work for ford through a supplier. In my opinion that is awful business and has really put a sour taste in my mouth. I have 5 ford vehicles and these will be my last.
I know this isnt the norm, especially at Ford, but the 2 people I know of that were cut were not exactly the examples of a worker with great results. 1 was a total slacker and barely did any work and constantly had people complain about their support....and the other one had a trail of major issues in their wake that cost the company millions.
So for once, they chose candidates correctly regarding these 2.
Just had adas all clear and all they could talk about was how our costs are not competitive and even though we are smaller that before we need to be Lazer focused on quality. Also this is not the last layoff but the new normal just like how competitors (tesla) does it
Highly skilled people cost more.
I thought this guy failed to deliver Model 3 production and got fired. That is more consistent with the value system we all are (or used to) familiar with.
If the same principle for recent Ford layoffs is followed, this guy is long gone. Lots of money are left on the table time after time, as many times as the number of recent layoffs.
We were told to expect this kind of layoffs all the time now. DF said that is how it's done in tech companies. Nice dysfunctional family
