Fireworks (turned out to be damp squibs) happened in May. July is just the warn notice taking effect 60 days from layoff notice.

In addition to @eox post, it also means h1b status is valid for approx 4 months in CA following layoff date. Mid-May layoff notice + 60 day WARN = mid July (employment end date to external world). This is followed by regular 60 day grace period for h1b. So, it's 4 months of job search and status validity in CA. And even more months if you consider the advance warning (5% opex reduction) in earning call in previous quarter.

We heard from vp level that layoff is done for this fiscal year... But fiscal year end September I think. This vp expects another round of cuts in fiscal 24, but didn't have any specific information... Could be before end of calendar year, or next calendar year.

I know some Q guys in IC design, CE and procurement. Their names are still in the directory, but they haven't been working regularly since mid May. Something is going on under the hood.

Qualcomm is not just QCT. There are many other businesses at Qualcomm that do not make money and are more experimental. Although QCT and QTL are the only money makers so when layoffs occur in these core businesses it sends a shock to the business
