Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

For those who are planning to change companies

Most retail jobs are similar. They all have the same stress and all have to deal with the same toxic people so leaving Macy's will not guarantee you'll be better off even if you are paid more. What you need to look for is a place that has good inter-employee relations and where you can build a solid team that can rely on each other and have each other's back. The only place I've had that so far was Costco, over a decade ago. I would have never left had I not had to move. I'd take a pay cut to have something like that back for my peace of mind.

Look for something outside of retail. After 19 yrs at Macy's I couldn't take it anymore. I started applying for everything. In one week I got 2 job offers, took one not in retail, same pay and they cover all health care costs. M- thur and THE nicest people I have ever worked for, didn't know it could be this good!
