Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Rumor: All US based IT jobs will be reviewed and offshored as needed.

Any truth to this rumor? Been hearing something about US jobs being marked as "Virtual" for location.

Dear ‘Royal’: Americans don’t necessarily want ‘favour’, as you put it; we just prefer not to be discriminated against by our employer.

Now that Shell has moved headquarters and retired its ‘Royal’ designation, the company is no longer bound by Dutch law to maintain high numbers of Dutch national employees. Will be quite interesting to see just how competitive the ‘talent’ is without government regulation tipping the scale. Good luck!

Based on Shell's and BP's stock price v. XOM and Chevron, looks like both Shell and BP could use some more American talent.

It’s really going to depend on the job, and I agree it will be all jobs will be subject to review. The retention rate in india is terrible, so it will have to be roles that the business can take on the risk of continuous onboarding

Why are Americans so fixated on not being in Shell’s favour…?

OP should perhaps consider that American talent has always been overpaid, overrated and subpar in comparison to Euro counterparts.

Unclear about any function, specifically, but all US jobs will likely be reviewed, given high compensation costs of US-based employees and subtle corporate disdain for the US. Shell has been consistently shrinking US workforce and footprint for years, with significantly fewer promotional opportunities for Americans than at any time previously. Only a handful of Americans in JGB / SEG (senior executive group) corporately; none on CEO’s staff. Who is advocating for American talent, then? Even leadership roles within US are often filled with imports. For Americans, Shell is a mediocre employer, at best. Why work for a company that discriminates against and limits you? One that conducts a debilitating downsizing every 2 years? One that flip-flops company strategy every 5 years?
