I heard from an inside source Dish cut 10%-15% of their work force in each department across the company this week including management. People asked in earlier comments; Dish makes you sign a plethora of legal paper work protecting them and making it hard for you. When they moved people from Echostar to Dish, they brought in lawyers and hr to bully people into signing the paper work. I remember hearing new Dish Employees say "We have to sign or we will lose our jobs." It is a very toxic work environment, most people look 10 years younger a few months after leaving. I pray the good people laid off will find great companies.

Good luck to the remaining employees. I worked for dish for less than one year before looking for a role outside of the company. The writing is very much on the wall. I remember sitting in quarterly meetings where the numbers were significantly missing their goals. In addition it can't be overlooked that less and less people are looking for Satellite service. More than anything their CEO Charlie is an absolute sociopath. He expects employees to risk their safety, driving in literal winter storms/blizzards to get to Meridian before the 9am curfew (which itself is absolutely asign) Get the experience of working at a Fortune 500 on your resume and get out. Only thing I miss is Jerry!

You just can not work at Dish and kid yourself that there is any kind of loyalty. At least those being laid off get the courtesy of being told that the business is making a financial decision to let them go. I've been involved with or know of scores of terminations there for cause that were really going to be lay-offs in the future, including my own. When Dish know they have to cut heads, they get super particular about digging until they find something they can term for. Then some poor manager who has drank the kool aid has to tell that person with a straight face that they're being termed for (_______Insert Reason Here) when everyone in the room knows it's really a cost reduction move in disguise.

I've never heard anyone say that Dish paid any severance whatsoever when they were laid off.

It's possible that Dish VPs and above have management contracts that have separation clauses, but I don't know that for a fact.

Really surprised Dish does not offer severance pay. Do employees sign some kind of agreement holding Dish harmless post employment? Severance pay is basically a “premium” that’s paid out to avoid lawsuits, DOL filings, etc..

Gave them so many years of my life just to get laid off. No emphaty from HR no severance pay for the years work. I feel like I wasted my time. They keep adding VP, and Directors more management for what instead of keeping the employees they have for years and focusing with the new era they stay behind.

The other carriers pay ~20% more for wireless network roles. Turned down an offer late last year… looks like it was the right move.

They just hit their 70% milestone so time to cull the herd and cut expenses…congratulations!! Expect future layoffs with future milestones.

Yep, laid off today without a reason as well. I was a Big Data Engineer. Compensation was way too low, and they knew I was actively looking for a new job, I don't blame them for deciding to terminate my job today rather than waiting for my resignation letter in 2 months. The buildout is becoming a fiasco and Charlie is tired of burning billions of dollars in this project, rumour say he is now looking for easy way-outs, such as a merger (with AT&T?) or as I have seen countless times; filing for bankruptcy to get out of debt.

I was laid off as well, sfyer 1.5 years. While not unexpected given their Financials. But odd in its timing, since I got a raise 2 weeks ago.

Anyone read Greenlights by Matthee McConaughey, an autobiographical tale? I feel like Dish is the insane australian family he lived with for a year after high school. He left them and others confirmed that they were literally crazy. It confirmed that he knew he was solid, and it hardened his self-knowing and resilience.

My husband was also laid off yesterday. I never thought they valued their employees anyway. He’ll find better work elsewhere. This company will be non existent in a few years.

Husband was laid off yesterday after almost 9 YEARS. He was in training and quality for wireless. Still waiting on the separation paperwork they said would be sent within an hour of the meeting he had.

It's a miserable place to work and in rapid decline.

You'll find better opportunities elsewhere...guaranteed.

I can tell you at least myself, you and a few others. Guess the longer you're there, the more expendable you are, fu-k em.
