Last week via a Zoom meeting about 20 McGraw-Hill Professional staffers were let go. The company is ending its publication of Business and Education books, leaving only Medical and Technical. Layoffs included editors and support staff. Standard MH severance package.

It was a broader layoff.
more than 300 folks got laid off among content and technology.
Thank you for the clarification saying that the higher education books will not be affected, Say It Ain't So, Joe. That's good news. Sorry for my poor reading comprehension earlier; I was still in shock. Also, it doesn't help that the business and professional publishing company in question is called "McGraw-Hill Education." One might think they publish the textbooks, but you are right; that is a separate division: McGraw-Hill Higher Education.
I think you misunderstood. The only PROFESSIONAL titles will be Medical and Technical. I do not think this affects Higher Ed. That is a different division.
I am a longtime business author with McGraw-Hill and heard this news on the morning of Wednesday, June 28, 2023. It was a shock to me, as I was almost finished updating the most recent edition (6th) of a massive business book for MH. My only consolation was hearing that the higher education group would still stay in business at MH. I was hoping to convert my book into a business school textbook. In fact, I have suggested this within the company. So far, I have had no replies. Now I understand why. According to the top of this thread, the higher ed titles will only be medical and technical. Wow. So the change is even more drastic than I thought! I feel bad for the layoffs and the broken book contracts--especially mine (sad emoji).
