Boeing supplier stops production at Wichita plant after workers vote to strike

Hi since then spirit has locked out the workers from returning to work and will file for bankruptcy to get out of any obligations in dealing with the unions in good faith so now spirit can be bought by Boeing or Lockheed .
Looks like they have a contract offer.
The low offer bar has been set when ours is up.
The new contract includes no mandatory weekend overtime and a wage increase of 9.5% with a guaranteed increase of 23.5% over the life of the contract.
They will come to quick agreement. Will promise big raises over contract period and big signing bonus. Only have a limited time to jack up stock price for executives because the house of bs is collapsing way faster than anticipated.
Boeing and spirit have had difficulty recruiting employees. A lot of older employees chose to retire during Covid.
Not a lot of young people are choosing to go into aviation. It’s not a stable, career path or well paid. In addition they used to hire a lot of ex-military mechanics but even the military is having a difficult time recruiting.
You can get a job working as a pipe fitter or welder or other blue-collar type job and be paid better and have more stability and better union benefits. The difficulty recruiting employees was inevitable when you look at Boeings push to pay people the least.
Why would anyone waste their time working at Boeing or their suppliers? Seems really d-mb if you want a career that has a future.
Even with fuselages, every order Boeing gets and every delivery they make is now at a negative profit margin. So yeah, there will be excuses for every quarterly loss and every quarter will continue to be a loss until this corrupt and nepo Ponzi company is just a footnote in aerospace history.
How long can Renton continue to operate with no fuselages?
Boeing executives are always looking for excuses as to why they lose money every quarter. I’m sure this will play into the next quarterly report.
Yeah, I can't imagine the Boeing 787 carbon fiber hull is any better than the OceanGate submersible carbon fiber hull in terms of manufacturing quality. I keep waiting to read about another Boeing accident given their marginal "cut corners" engineering and manufacturing capability.
It’s party time get out the Boe lube.
Pump this directly into my veins
who cares about what happens in Kansas or Washington...Boeing is a loser company and deserves every bad thing that happens to them
The machinists union at Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, KS has voted to reject the collective bargaining agreement offer.
So what happens next.
With production of the 737 fuselage stopped Renton will become a ghost town. Layoffs of 737 assembly line union members will begin 7/31/2023.
With no fuselages coming in to assemble, Boeing will save money by getting rid of Renton union employees.
I mean, what else are they going to do, let them sit on their a-s and do nothing on the shop floor (even if that would not really be any different than today)
Ah the sweet irony that the poor union folk in Washington will get laid off because of a stronger union in Wichita, KS going on strike.
Keep flapping your gums and enjoy your mom's basement.
Regarding the 839 strike:
Once again, the IAM recommends an offer the membership has to reject.
This reflects the nature of the international and it's control over locals and district lodges. Keep the dues rolling in baby, and that fat strike fund intact.
Odds are, YOU will be in the same position. Again.
Nobody at 751 HQ is going to stand up against the International. You are going to be on your own against another te---r campaign by Boeing with the IAM's full cooperation.
Don't let them do it to you again. Sure, Boeing can threaten to leave. But understand that they took the entire 787 program no matter what you gave back, So threats of loss of jobs shouldn't even be on your radar screen. Neither should garbage promises of future work or new programs.
As the economy will likely be in recession (or worse) the media will turn against you. Again. The outside public will hate you. Again. (they always do).
Ignore it all. Ignore Boeing, the IAM International and it's toady's at 751 HQ. (still some good folks there so choose well). Ignore the media, the general public, the scabs and the naysayers. And the politicians. particularly the ones that claim to be on your side.
Stick together. And you will win.
"OceanGate has invested six years of design and testing of this pressure vessel design in partnership with technology organizations such as the Applied Physics Lab at the University of Washington and the Boeing Company," they noted in its 2017-18 global industry overview of manned underwater vehicles. "OceanGate reports this has given the company full confidence in their novel approach…"
Now Boeing will say they had little involvement with OceanGate per the trumpian red model to bs, cheat and lie.
Renton production pause coming soon
