Such a shame to hear the news these comments demonstrate the issues blame game between shop floor and maintenance, between any group and management the failure to get everyone on the same team says it all. Oven entry and general decline in volume not ideal obviously. But unfortunately you can't polish a tu-d.

Most of the Maintenance are great lads and I have the upmost respect for those that left. Also wish the ones that are remaining well, they worked far harder than anyone on the shop floor. I’m a shopfloor worker btw.
We only have ourselves to blame, buried our heads in the sand for years

If you consider maintenance at fault for this you are a massive sausage. Took a massive pay cut, most of the sparkys left (don’t blame any of them) and at one point down to 2 trained sparkys for 24/5 cover. Joke

Reading this thread you can tell the ones adding their 50p here are all to blame… you all read as toxic as the reputation you hold!

Good luck to the decent staff who have only ever tried to get their jobs done and to the ones who haven’t stood hiding behind a union!

Have fun trying to demand, hold to ransom and throw toddler tantrums at another workplace and see how far it gets you… Look in the mirror!!

The Maker lot are extremely stupid, they thought they could blackmail management with the bravado that they weren’t bothered if they lost their job. Well they’ve done it now and I’ve seen some crying yesterday, shame on you

No, when the company wants something done you hold them to ransom, demanding more money. Good luck with that tactic down the Sandwich Factory

If you've never worked at 3M atherstone then your talking out your backside, granted the culture at Atherstone differs to many other workplaces however the plant has a great workforce and when the company asked for something to be done we got it done, apathy has set in over the last few years maybe we all knew the plant would close eventually but this has been caused externally not internally

Angryman you are clearly a deluded fool.

Atherstone is well known throughout the UK for having the worst, laziest workforce. So to even contemplate going down fighting is comical.

Sad news for everyone affected. I went to Atherstone many times, and know some of the people in the thread. Good luck to all in finding an employer that truly values your skills.

Lot of finger pointing going on but neither the union, mgt or workforce are to blame Atherstone was set up to fail when we were duped into taking on a new product and like the trojan horse it was , it allowed the business to conviniently take all our profit making legacy products away.
The yanks came over lobotomised our equipment to make this new product and took everything they learned away with them leaving us with machines not fit for purpose, to say I'm angry would be an understatement but if they think we're going down without a fight then they have under estimated the people of Atherstones resolve.

If NT’s poison was looking after the shop floor workers and their terms and conditions then I guess then I guess he was to blame

To be fair, the Scottish lad got us the investment youth. Shame it was a bad move. Maker lads need to wake up.

🤣🤣🤣 that was an easy bite, keep crying boys, anybody with the skill set that you whoppers have out of maintenance in 3m can walk into another job with there eyes closed, theres only 1 or 2 that actually have a clue what there doing the others might as well put a blind fold on and walk backwards!!

Maintenance got redundancy and a 10k pay rise in their new job

Maker get redundancy and 20k pay cut

This is the level of intelligence 3M Atherstone are dealing with. Yes it's worked out nicely for them, they've not been made redundant, they've gone to a new job. That is what the post said.

I left months back for a better job and haven’t looked back since, 100% of the maintenance team will walk into jobs anywhere, you’re the massive sausage if you think maintenance are to blame 🤣

Absolutely correct @fch+1nf8ES6e

Everyone from Maintenance that has left in the last 5 years has gone to a much higher paid, secure job. 3M are behind the times , should have paid them what they were worth. Happy to pay unskilled , trouble making Maker id--ts but not happy to pay skilled workers

It’s got all the Maintenance lot better, well paid job, on better shifts, so worked out nicely for them

Maintenance didn't get shafted, they have the knowledge but they refuse to work shifts and pass it onto the lads that actually work hard and want to learn what it was about, the senior lads just like having the power infront of management and not giving any knowledge away. Look where that's got you.

Where’s the big mouth Maker knob who was giving it the big one a few months back. Looking forward to your minimum wage job now pal

Bit of clutching at straws blaming maintenance as well, they got shafted and all left and the place went downhill because no one else had a clue what to do

Maker ops are to blame?🤣🤣 let's start the blame game then.

  1. Maintenance that haven't got a clue what there doing threatening BF that if they get put on a shift pattern then there going to quit when all that needs doing is the machines fixing. (holding them to ransom and BF not having the bottle to tell them to leave, can name individuals if you like)
  1. Bringing in a PAL that dont know her ar-e from her elbow telling people she'll be involved in helping then never seeing her again on the shop floor only to see her take her redundancy package (shock) cause she dont know left from right.
  1. Process engineer manager that back stabs shop floor more than anybody can imagine then expects people to help and trust him! ( another planet the melt!)
  1. BF,BM,BG, persistent lying so any other plant if you have them, I feel sorry for you, don't believe what they say cause its all garbage that comes out there mouths. And if BM comes to your plant, I'm sorry to say but it's closing.

Absolutely gutted that the place is shutting but maybe the management will step into the real world and see what turds they actually are in reality.

Yes the Maker ops are partly to blame but BF was the one who let them get away with it because his Daddy told him to keep 2 people happy

You can't blame BF, the Maker ops destroyed 3M Atherstone

Post ID: @lia+1nf8ES6e

They treated the maintenance like sh*t then were surprised they all started leaving. Then everything started falling to pieces with not enough of them left to fix anything.

BF, BG are just bad managers so resort to bullying and belittling others. No clue about engineering, manufacturing or quality. Useless.

If 3M goes, Atherstone goes with it!

What sort of a muppet are you. 160 people, majority of whom don’t live in the town. Aldi and FedEx are far bigger employers locally and their office staff are paid more than 3M
