My friend who’s a high up manager at Q is in his mid 50s. He’s hoping to get laid off to receive the golden handshake and retire. His done pretty well for himself. Sounds like he’s just tired of working period and Q can be a brutal working environment. Unfortunately for him his health took a toll with all the stress working for the company. He’s over it and wants to ride off into the sunset.

Looks like too many in this forum disappointed there weren't many layoffs. And that media was paid off to remain silent (including the 'Marisol' guy to confuse everyone with wrong spelling!) turned out to be bogus. The layoffs were inline with the 5% reduction announced previous quarter. So, no surprises. Enough time was given to look elsewhere for those who didn't want to take any chances. Sure there may be layoffs next fiscal year, but let's keep this forum alive till then! Lol...
micro layoff and geoshift coming next month (July) otherwise attrition is the plan for remainder of calendar year 2023 (QCOM is on FY Oct- Sep for those not paying attention)

That’s true. HR started to talk with people in my office who can’t come in required days, and asked them to quit.
Today's announcement of 400+ in San Diego was the first step. Next round in San Diego is 1200 to 1300 employees, this info comes from someone high up I trust.
If you aren’t in your office 4 days a week, start working on your resume.
If you aren’t needed on campus, your job will be moved.
