July has arrived; does this mean that Q2 is in the books.
When it comes to transparency, in Town Halls we hear that Nielsen is making money but our Managers tell us that we are millions over budget and that more lay offs are coming.
We who are still employed can now see even the staunchest Nielsen supporters starting to panic. When your Manager can no longer give you a straight answers, how are you expected to remain focused?
Managers that preached a growth culture and promised opportunities to learn have now become manic micro-managers with low to no tolerance levels for questions or new ideas.
These managers are finally seeing what the hourly employees have been complaining about for years! Human Resources or whatever they are called this month are useless and of no help to the employees. Supervisors have no idea how to manage the products or the people.
Managers allowed power driven neurotics to control the job flow and are now wondering why other employees cannot think for themselves or if they can, there decisions have been questioned so many times that they are now afraid to speak up.
These neurotics are now complaining that they cannot handle the workloads but they brought this on themselves because things had to be done their way and discouraged/disagreed with other ideas/resolutions.
They will sit in meetings asking for ideas but will then shut them down when in contrast from theirs.
Managers, if you are expecting your teams to help deal with the changing landscape of Nielsen and no one is volunteering ideas or their time, be aware that you brought this upon yourselves. You still have your loyal few who will be there for you but, that may not be enough.
re: You think Nielsen will go public again in a few years?
The company has 3 silos [like gracenote], each will be sold, or spun off an IPOd
The question is if people knew more about Nielsen's toxic work environment (including their human resources culture), would the info help potential Nielsen applicants avoid working for Nielsen and perhaps dedicate years of their lives to more ethical companies?
You think Nielsen will go public again in a few years?
I do not understand how sarcasm would help future Nielsen employees.
re: And this sarcasm will help the people without jobs in what way?
it will be helping future workers avoid Nielsen who read this
And this sarcasm will help the people without jobs in what way?

Shame they aren't in a submersible.
