Thread regarding Optum layoffs

It's been nice.

I will say it's been nice not seeing or hearing of any layoffs. Sometimes I think people come in here just to stir the pot & get people worked up.

It would be insane to think layoffs are not planned, we each have two options, lay the ground work so your management chain advocates for you when the bean counters put you on the list or start networking so you can transition to a new job while picking up severance pay.

There does seem to be some panic on this board about rumors. After 14yrs, at least in IT, I have seen a pattern in RIF, October and the beginning of the year. We are probably safe for a few months

Summer is time to go to the Lakehouse and plan Masters programs for Jr. You know family time. I would expect more Sept RIFs. It is what he does Acquire and RIF, never building anything. Seen it consistently for 4 years now.

They happen every year. They usually happen before annuals and bonuses are paid out. This year they decided to drag it on until July because they're such an ethical company and people are their primary focus. I think I'm going to throw up now.....

September sounds about right! Last year stock options rewarded to the “top” C level in Sept options exercises thereafter.. RIFs commenced in waves followed. The RIFs roadmap already in place. Us at the bottom of totem pole kept in the dark.. if you have not checked out UHG proxy 2023, do it in executives performance goals starting page 40 etc.it’s all about rewarding the top how much cost cutting they can achieve …

Any info on what is planned for July/August? If they’ve blown through a department earlier in the year with RIFs, is it likely upcoming RIFs will affect untouched departments?

It was shock n Awe show and may be needed for some pillars. End of the day, resources are same unless u can pay insane. Healthcare doesn’t have that margin or need.
