These were a part of the April/May layoffs. Of the 6k reductions, 1100 were based in Maplewood. Those affected by reductions were given 2wks notice to clean out their workspaces, transfer any personal files off their computer, and wrap up employment (or try to find alternative employment within 3M). After those 2 weeks, their 3M systems access was shut off. Then they had something like 60 days of being on 3M payroll but not having a role. After those 60 days, their severance has kicked in.

The finer details of this may be off, but the broad strokes are correct.

No - this 1100 is part of the global 6k. We got WARN letters in Texas, I'm sure they got them in MN.

@1xft+1nbbDMgw uhh you need to chill. It was an question about the previous lay offs and the notice for them and @xkj+1nbbDMgw answered the question. Stop jumping to conclusions.

Very simply, yes.

The number does not need to be exact, but yes roughly 1,100 3Mers that had 3M Center as their 'work address' are on the chopping block.

Dude, chill. Nearly half of 3M's entire global R&D org works on site at the center. On top of that pilot plants for 5 or so division sit there. I get that the some people are really, really bitter about work from home, I really get it, but that doesn't mean all of 3M Center is that way.

So, just to be clear, does this mean 3M will lay off 1,100 more people who work out of Maplewood (remote, hybrid or in-office)?

more like 1100 that should be at the center but are “working from home”. seems light to me. should have been more like 80%

WARN has a 'notice or pay' loophole. If 3M has at least 60 days of notice AND severance that is enough to meet the requirements. (i.e. people get at least 60 days of paychecks)

1,100 at the center is harsh - above 15% based on last headcount I heard.
