VCSS+ going away at the end of Q2, Cloud Packs now the only viable bundle that includes vSphere but CMBU specialists have no pipeline credit given for these. The core is supposed to handle Cloud Packs - and more and more stuff is being sent to us to handle instead of specialists. What is the end game here?

And what about N&S Specialists ? What could be their future in the BC world ?
Gorgeous summation!
There will be no CMBU specialists anymore as there will be no "non core" products within 6 months of the BC buyout (it's a buyout of MD / Silverlake not an acquisition...)
Tanzu Labs, Spring - gonzo to the highest bidder. Same for Guardrails, and the "cool" adjacent products.
CMBU will only remain for CH, vRA, vROPS. Tanzu mgmt stuff will probably just be subsumed into vCenter for the pure infra level and vRA for the abstraction level. Should have happened years ago...
And yes, I know "they call it Aria" now but that's just lipstick on the bulldog. Lazy marketing where the PM's couldn't even explain the "new" architecture and mgmt just got a hard on suggesting the data model was like Google "scale" (as if they have a clue...)
Get the CV brushed off, learn the next cool thing where you want to pursue you career and no hard feelings when BC comes and RIFF's you - you can thank Michael Dell, Silverlake along with Raghu and Sumit for being such outstanding EPIC2 leaders....
EPIC2 = Every Penny Is Covetous Craving
Pass the bo-g please
That is the Tanzu way, the software was written under the influence.
Yes. If you want any shot at staying with the merged company, focus on pipeline development. Also, as a CM Specialist, become an expert in DevOps and Tanzu... Super easy to learn and be credible in front of seasoned programmers. Not a problem. And remind customers we manage everything! vSphere to native word loads federated across all the big hyper-scalers. Super easy. Have no shame. Solid roadmap. Pass the bo-g please
Assumed it would be merged with the tanzu specialist roles.
Every specialist has a target for pipeline creation in addition to a quota, that is what that means
Agree with OP tbh, for the same reasons. These same points have come up with colleagues
What is pipeline credit…I’ve heard of comp, quota, and bookings.
All three of the above, CMBU specialists get for cloud packs. Just vSphere being taken away, which is between CIBG and MAMBG. Not seeming like a grand plan to get rid of CMBU specialists. Pretty sure, Wavefront (TO), CloudHealth, Guardrails, Hub & Graph, Migration, etc, make up for losing vSphere.
