Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Relocation Repayment

Am thinking of leaving for another job but it's only ~10 months since I joined. Anyone has the experience to deal with this sticky situation?

You only have 2 more months just stick it out. That or you lose a good chunk of money.

Why are people looking to leave? Well the transformation year in 2022 was bleak, just 12 months of no vision management showing their brightest idea is cost cutting. Then they laid off all the senior non-management folks in my org. Then after that they just kept removing teams, and senior leaders quit in droves.

Emerging energy was touted as the future of the company then quickly face planted when they were given no resources by the ELT. Now our growth division is lead by our layoff queen, how reassuring. "But there are people in Zimbabwe with no electricity!!"

If you are a new hire and want to collect some paychecks while achieving nothing of value then stay for a while. If you are a middle career lazy person then stay and see how long it takes before they come for you. If you are mid career and ambitious either try to climb the ladder by loving to sh-t on all ideas and layoff folks or leave. If you are 50+ and not in management just hold on for severance, it will surely be coming your way eventually.

Hey I hope I'm wrong and it all turns around and there is a bright future ahead but it's so hard to see ATM.

It sounds like you have two options. Either stay the required time...or don't. What kind of advice are you looking for?

Why is everyone so adamant to quit? I’m new to the company and would like insight.

I thought the threshold was only six months. If not, is it now a year? Just hold out another month and then start looking hard. By the time you get an offer, you’ll likely get past a year.

Im thinking of doing the same. Morale is really low and many people on my team is looking for a job elsewhere or has left or is leaving soon.
