Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Story Time friends, gather around the carpet for another episode of NOV.

Once upon a time, in a place where people worked together, there was a very sad and dark situation. It was like a spooky realm where bad things were happening. Imagine it like a storybook land with villains, but these villains weren't monsters – they were people doing really mean things.

There were four special villains, like characters in a fairy tale. They were called the Four Horsemen. These Horsemen didn't ride on horses, but they had powers that were even scarier. Let's meet them:

HR, the First Horseman: Imagine a person who could make important decisions that hurt other people. HR was like that. They didn't seem to care about feelings and made sad things happen to workers. They did it in a way that didn't seem to care about how it hurt others.

Legal, the Second Horseman: This Horseman was like a judge who followed rules without thinking about how it made people feel. They made sure the company's rules were followed, but they didn't think about how those rules could hurt workers. It was like they had a sharp sword of rules that they used without any kindness.

Management, the Third Horseman: This Horseman was like a boss who liked being in charge. They made choices that helped the company make more money, but sometimes these choices meant that people lost their jobs. They didn't seem to think about how it would make those people sad.

The Bean Counters, the Fourth Horsemen: Imagine people who only cared about numbers and money, not about people's feelings. These Bean Counters used spreadsheets, like big math papers, to figure out how much money the company would save by letting people go. They treated people like they were just numbers on a page, not real people.

All these Horsemen together were like a team of bad guys who didn't care about kindness or how their actions made others feel. They didn't listen to the cries of the people they hurt; they just laughed and acted like it didn't matter. It was really sad, because they didn't show any understanding or care for the people they affected.

And so, this story teaches us about how sometimes, in the grown-up world, there are people who make choices that hurt others, even though they could be kinder. It's important for us to always remember to be kind and think about how our actions might affect others, just like we learn from fairy tales.

This is why you never get too comfortable with a job. This is why you never accept them as your 'work family'. And most importantly, this is why you do the same to them. Do your job, don't make it personal (nobody cares about your feelings) and most importantly take advantage of your situation ;-)

That is pretty much a true story.
Poor people that have been there 5 or less years have no clue to what’s coming.
