Were there more layoffs today? Received a message from a coworker telling me their position was eliminated today.

I will not be surprised if we start to see “product” jobs being eliminated as well in the near future. So much waste in product and they tap on engineers for everything they need to report on or speak about.
@4rgk+1nZN1e8B JS has been noted for his opposition to these positions even existing, so that makes sense. Very likely just eliminating them team by team so it doesn't look like a mass layoff.

Good, I’m glad managers are looking at PIPs instead of layoffs. Trim the poor performers instead of letting talented people go. We all know the type of people that end up on PIPs and all the excuses they probably use. “It’s impossible!” - no, you’re just not good at your job and everyone knows it.
Did that mean a wrongful PIP to terminate employee? Sounds scary
No layoff. The managers are initiating PIP, which even a superman can’t achieve. They are using this strategy to save severance payment.

Saw something on LinkedIn too, there was another reorganization somewhere that resulted in some positions being cut.
What area? Did the coworker know of any eliminations besides themself?
