Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Layoffs and Bonuses

I just read an article that from a CEO's perspective if you have to shut down something that isn't profitable you can obviously increase the stock price and earnings and get a big bonus out of that despite announcing layoffs.

Wow, what a depressing place to work. Factor in that you have to come in 4 to 5 days a week when most tech companies are still working remote 3 to 4 days a week. Forget it, QCOM was a company to work for twenty years ago. Get severance and get the heck out.

Everything the execs do is to increase their pay. Current team is heavily compensated based on stock price so they will do whatever to increase stock even if it impacts QCOM future. Thousands will be laid off and they will make millions. Pretty pathetic.

Anything an executive to do to cut expenses and boosts profits will spike EPS which increases stock price and their personal large stock compensation. The popular items are to do large layoffs, outsource, cut R&D for future "bets" and do large share buybacks. You see the positive results right away but the long term damage (ie bad QC, non competitive future products, etc.) won't show up for years. By that time the exec has already cashed out and the issue becomes somebody else's problem. BTW, it's not just executives but also the same playbook for private equity doing leveraged buyouts.
