Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I'm done but will my family get paid out?

I'm done. I've nothing left to give. What will happen regarding payout/comp when I top myself. Does the scheme payout or not?

I think everyone on this board should try to help the Original Poster - provide words of encouragement, try to send the OP to someone who may be ble to help. Every life is so important, so precious - we should do all to save life. Do you know who at Dell may be able to help - maybe Dell can contact local authorities who can do a wellness check on the original poster, let's try to help.

I can reach out to the moderators or administrators of layoffs.com and see if they would be able to help whoever will be doing the check on the original poster - that can often help.

Do you know who at Dell may be able to help with this, who do we contact there?

Go for a walk in the woods, go to the beach, or somewhere else you can see God’s wonders. Then ask yourself: does not working for Dell change any of that?

Corporations demonstrated to me 20 years ago that despite all the platitudes they don’t give a sh-t about me. I’m not sure that’s even so wrong. I just hate all the lying and virtue signaling to try to make it appear that they care.

You are worth so much more than your job, I hope you realize that. Please don't let this place push you into doing something that would hurt your family immensely. Others have already posted resources but since you mentioned EMEA, I found several crisis lines you can reach out to if you are on my side of the pond.

UK: https://www.spuk.org.uk/national-su----e-prevention-helpline-uk/ - 0800 689 5652
Ireland: https://www.samaritans.org/ - 116 123
Spain: 024
France: 3114

That's just a few, look here for more:

And please contact them.

Breathe, take this time to seek out something for yourself, to be able to continue your commitment to your family.

Being laid off is rough, but push through. I was cut in February, even though I don’t love my current gig being sent away from Dell was a blessing. Take your severance and just take that time, you and your family deserve it.

And please trust us all when we say this, your experience is GRAND in this world, and many companies loooove former Dell employees!

Best of luck friend, here if you need us. Please reach out to whomever you need to and keep your head up.

Dell is not important in any way but you and your family are.
Take time and imagine the heartbreak that your family would feel if they lost you.
Spend time with your loved ones and it will change your perspective im sure.
I am certain your family love you.

You bring DECADES of experience in the tech world. Take some time for yourself then apply to places. You’re worth more than Dell had you leaving over…

Original poster. I'm not blaming Dell. Originally EMC - EMEA 25 years. This is all I've realistically known as a career. I'm done with this corporate sh!the. I just need to know that, whatever MY decision is, my family will get some financial benefits
I doubt it because big CORP writes this into a contract I've never seen.

Having been where you are…

Take the severance. Take a couple weeks for yourself. Reach to your pastor/rabbi/priest if religious. Reach to a therapist now.

During the paid vacation, spend more time with your wife and kids. Do things your job prevents you from doing right now. Your kids will remember that time forever. I know I did after my Father was BRAC’d in the 90s.

After a few weeks start applying elsewhere. In a year or two you might even boomerang. Dell tends to go through pendulums.

Sign up for training. There are unlimited resources these days to upskill. Cloud certs, coding boot camps, or change industries if you so desire.

I insist you reach out to someone you know and trust. If not…take your severance and go on a trip. You’ll see there’s much more important things than Dell Technologies

You are a beloved child of god and your worth is not in your paycheck but inherent and cannot be taken from you and will not be taken from you if you are laid off because you could be no more or less loved then you are now because you are infinitely loved right now just as you are
