Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Is this the right time to leave?

From the email, Layoffs are expected to happen till mid-2024. Right now, there is going to be a huge layoff in October. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Our team is already under staffed and more layoffs will be painful. And I believe the positions will be scarce in late November/December due to holiday season. So if the layoffs happen in October, it will be really difficult to find a job until Jan-Feb 2024.

I am confused and scared right now. I made huge commitments with the possibility of getting a promotion/bonus this year. Looks like AR is set to be postponed and bonus will be very low. If I'm laid off, I'll be screwed for sure.

Although I've started preparing for interviews, job market is still not great for my field. I was thinking to stick with the company hoping that I won't be laid off. Or I should still go for the switch no matter what happens?

When you say market is not good for your field, which field are you currently in? BTW...situation is not much different for all tech fields.
