Who cares about them or the company? Just do enough, invest in your own skills and happiness and wait for a better opportunity or the severance package.

Their primary concern is to kiss the behind of their major shareholders.
Then they can pad their wallet with whatever is leftover.

It depends. They are only allowed to get away with that because they are copacetic with the government. If that bond is somehow broken, you will see change.
They control congress and the media though. Also other groups work with them.

If you disappeared tomorrow, the company would still hum along and you’d be looking for a job. If they disappeared tomorrow, the company would still hum along but they’d be many millions richer.
A CEO first primary concern is padding their own wallet first and foremost. To maneuver themselves contractually in a way that no matter what happens, good or bad, they get a financial umbrella so big that their feet never touch the ground.
