- I recently got laid off and experienced how the 1:1 goes
- -it is a one on one with your manager's manager and an HR person will be there too
- -it is entirely scripted (ask questions but don't expect a humane/personal response)
- -cameras will most likely be turned off
- -you will be expected to return your computer/mouse/monitor/etc (any dell equipment)
- a box will arrive for you 6-8 weeks after being laid off to ship back to them
- -you should apply for UNEMPLOYMENT asap
- -this process is not going to be quick! the sooner you apply the better for you
- -you should also sign up for the OUTPLACEMENT assistance ASAP!
- this will be a HUGE help, but keep in mind it also takes a bit to get set-up
- -you also do not receive the info to sign up for a bit after being laid off but be ready
PERSONAL ADVICE
- take a break for a week or more if you need it!
- when you are ready EDIT your RESUME and UPDATE it
- Do not take too much TIME off, entering an interview a month after is a lot better than 3
- Do not STRESS! It is part of life, everything will eventually work out!
- Do not take it PERSONALLY! The lay offs have no rhyme or reason
- Stay HEALTHY keep up with your gym routine/ spend time outside
- Maintain your relationships! It is nice to speak to people
- I wont lie this will be an uphill battle but we all worked for Dell technologies!
- -every single person affected can and will land on your feet!
-
-do not have negative self talk, stay positive! and make the best lemonade with the
lemons you have - -Best of luck everyone!
- P.S msg your network and ask for referrals asap, it helps!
