Nvidia has a good balance in SW and HW engineers resulting in leader in AI and GPU.
Qualcomm always preferred HW engineers even though SW engineers masks their HW bugs using SW workarounds after HW tapeout.
SW never got recognition in Q and when SW folks started leaving for FAANG then CA started crying for attrition and saying we have good and interesting work here.
All successfull HW companies except Q have not discriminated SW engineers and. example Nvidia, apple, amd. Power of AI lies in how customer easily using HW solution and apps can be made easily which Nvidia is working for years by releasing SDKs for AI solutions to help developers make SW and making full use of HW capabilities. But in Q, they prefer to make good HW without realizing how SW can utilize HW capabilities.
