I'm no longer at Synaptics but I've heard about the latest layoffs. I had great coworkers there so I hope all of them are still employed. Lack of job security is one of the reasons why I chose to leave in the first place, and this only proves that I made the right decision at the right time.

Seen quite a few layoffs at Synaptics over the many years consistently but this one sounds like a tsunami. Heard multiple sites are all but gone. Those which were acquired were targeted. Some chatter indicates 20% of worldwide workforce. I think its a case of acquisitions gone bad.
Heard there was a smaller one back in June. I have known some good engineers at Synaptics, hard working, dedicated. Mid management seems ok. Top i think is weak. Quite a few XOs left recently. Probably a sign things are going to get worse from here onward.
