Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Too bad modem as a service was not considered

I am no longer at Qualcomm now. Left as a senior staff engineer in 2014.
Modem as a service was brought to the table in 2013. There would be a 2 year subscription to the modem after which you couldn't use your phone.
MR was for it, so was strategy and CRD. Licensing and legal did not decline it outright.
Only person who declined it was CA.
And here's where things are.

Seems like the end user would be penalized under this scenario, not smartphone manufacturer or wireless service provider. Glad it didn’t happen.

That’s an awesome plan. Would help Apple achieve complete world domination.

More likely that CA was the one to pitch this brilliant idea.

Imagine coming up with a subscription plan for a f-ing modem. The genius who came up with this plan should have been fired a few slides into the presentation

That is the worst Idea.. the problem with qc.. iOS is slowly catching up to Android features.. if both software give same features and same price.. people choose Apple..

Shutdown QTL, stock will rise to $300, everyone including apple will use qc modem. QCT will generate 4 times higher with same no of employees. Stop the toxic trying to be monopoly, competition will ki-l qct ans qtl both.
